Logging in
the Compostela Valley
5,000 people barricade Compostela Valley highway
Wednesday, January 16, 2013
ABOUT 5,000 residents from
different areas affected by Typhoon “Pablo” barricaded the intersection of
Montevista and Monkayo towns in Compostela Valley to stop mining and illegal
logging.
The group also demanded an end
to substantial release of food aid, instead of the piece-meal distribution of
the government during calamities.
The human barricade forced
traffic to stop. The group also asks the government to respond immediately to
their needs like food and speedy rehabilitation efforts.
Social Welfare Secretary Dinky
Soliman was among those who barricaded from a scheduled trip to New Bataan.
Soliman, who was with
Compostela Valley Governor Arturo Uy, left the group and released 1,500 food
packs with 10 kilograms (kg) of rice, few cans of sardines, and noodles.
The group of protesters came
from the Barug Katawhan chapters, Bayan Southern Mindanao, and Balsa Mindanao,
said Mae Fe Templa, representative of the Balsa team.
In its earlier report, Bayan
Southern Mindanao said: "Forty-two days after Typhoon Pablo hit, millions
affected by Typhoon Pablo are hungry, homeless and without any means of
livelihood. Amidst the government's failure to deliver quick and sustained
humanitarian response, the people's rage could no longer be contained."
Members of the Philippine
National Police (PNP) kept a tight watch on the protesters Tuesday, although no
untoward incident happened as government officials tried to talk it out with
the residents.
The barricaders, who came from
Montevista, Monkayo, New Bataan, Pantukan, Maco, Mabini, New Corella, Mawab,
Banaybanay, Mati, and Lupon in the provinces of Davao del Norte, Compostela
Valley, and Davao Oriental, blame the massive mining and logging operations in
Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental which worsened the situation.
Compostela Valley is the center
of gold mining, while Davao Oriental's mountains are being mined for gold and
chromite, among many other minerals.
Reaction and insight in the article
In the article that I read shows the
effect of the typhoon Pablo in the Compestela Valley. The typhoon Pablo is a super typhoon.
Compostela Valley are very much affected of this typhoon. The place were really
damage or in the area of state calamities during and after the typhoon. Almost
5000 people affected by this typhoon.
All the government officials are uniting to help all the victim of this
typhoon. They do their responsibility to their people, they help each other to secure
the condition of their people.
In any kind of calamities, some of
our government officials do not forget their responsibility in their position
some of them are giving their best to help the people to recover and faced
their conditions. But not all the officials doing that, some are hiding in the
times that they are need by their fellowman. I admired those who are always
there or ready in the times that they need by their people.
In the case of the calamities and
condition happened in Compostela all are thinking about the cause why those
things happened. The article says that “Compostela
Valley is the center of gold mining, while Davao Oriental's mountains are being
mined for gold and chromite, among many other minerals” because of the it will
be the cause of the effect of the typhoon. I think not only mining is the
reason of this the logging in Compostela it also a reason why Compostela now suffering in the Typhoon Pablo.
We are living in a barrowed world, why we have to abuse
it if it is not owned by us. Everything that happening on us, it is also
because on what we did. The entire things are not permanently in our world.
Always remember that the thing that we did, though it is a little and if this
is wrong. It may cause a big impact, not only in yourself but to others. It may
cause of losing a dream or a life. We have to respect the things that God’s
gave us. He gives all that for us to have a better living. So that we have to
give importance in all the blessings that she gave to us. By simply loving and
caring in all His creation. :)

singing it. Post the lyrics.5pts
Say It Again
By: Marie Digby
The thing
about love is I never saw it comin'
You kinda crept up and took me by surprise
And now there's a voice inside my heart that's got me wonderin'
Is this true? I wanna hear it one more time
Move in a little closer
(Just a little closer)
Take it to a whisper
(Woah)
Get just a little louder
(Yeah)
Say it again for me
? Cause I love the way it feels when you are
Tellin' me that I'm
The only one who blows your mind
Say it again for me
It's like the whole world stops to listen
When you tell me you're in love
Say it again
The thing about you
(About you)
Is you know just how to get me
You talk about us like there's no end in sight
The thing about me is that I really wanna let you
(Really wanna let you)
Open that door
(Open that door)
And walk into my life
Move in a little closer
(Just a little closer)
Take it to a whisper
(Woah)
Just a little louder

(Yeah)
Say it again for me
? Cause I love the way it feels when you are
Tellin' me that I'm
The only one who blows your mind
Say it again for me
It's like the whole world stops to listen
When you tell me you're in love
And it feels like
It's the first time
That anybody's ever brought
The sun without the rain
And never
In my whole life
Have I heard words as beautiful
As when you say my name
Say it again for me
? Cause I love the way it feels
When you are tellin' me that I'm
The only one who blows your mind
Say It again for me
It's like the whole world stops to listen
When you tell me you're in love
Say it again
Say it again
Say it again
When you tell me you're in love
Say it again
