“If I had a child who wanted to be a teacher, I would bid him Godspeed as if he were going to a war. For indeed the war against prejudice, greed and ignorance is eternal, and those who dedicate themselves to it give their lives no less because they may live to see some fraction of the battle won.” ~James Hilton
“Draw yourself up to your full height, look anybody squarely in the eye, and say, I am a teacher.” ~William G. Carr

#10 Distance Education: Global Teacher

Name                 :  Gaspar, Shiela Marie B.

Section              :  BEEd 4-3

Contact Number :

Educ 165 is a different kind of learning, using distance learning you can learn. Without a formal meeting or a classroom discussion, you can still communicate with your instructor. Though you cannot see teacher in personal meeting but you still connected, because the teacher will provided all the reading materials that we use in the course. By simply giving through the use of internet or technology.

n this kind of learning that our instructor use, it is appropriate to us as a practice teachers. As assigned in the different schools, it is hard for us to attend a formal schooling for the subject. In distance learning we don’t have to attend a class for that subject. You will learned by yourself using the materials given. You can study the subject in your available time and anywhere you are. It’s enhanced our skills using computer and internet. But in this course it is hard for the students if there is no available internet connection in the place.

The course is very effective as a future teacher. We learned a lot, we learned to be patience and work with our self. It consumes much time in reading the materials. It is interesting course. Over all it is challenging and effective learning.

#9 HOME

Environmental Education

The film HOME by Yann Arthus-Bertrand It is a nice story. In the story we will opens about the history of our planet earth, how this formed into planet. The story educate about the world. Although I heard something about this, like in the film. As a human being we are the reason of everything. The planet only depends on us, the condition of earth is because of what we did. We are so blessed because we are free to use the things around us, the resources that we use and we defend on it for our living. That some of them is abusing it. We do not know that the everything in our word is not permanently in this world. Like the people in earth all things have an ending, like sand, oil, water like us those things cannot exist without one of them. They are linked to one another. Like us we de do not live without the things that supply our needs that we get from our planet. Because of none disciplined people the planet earth will shorten the life. All living things will suffer. All the things around us benefit us, but we don’t give importance in all of the things that we get. The film had shown me the things the people did in our environment in our planet earth. Even if we ignore the things happening in our world the earth will end earlier. By that the second generation cannot enjoyed living on earth because it is destroyed by us. This film awakens me that we have to do something to stops the earlier ending of our world by giving importance on it. :)

#7 What teachers really want to tell parents

#7 The teacher as a Promoter of Peace in the Workplace and in the Community

WHAT TEACHERS REALLY WANT TO TELL PARENTS by Ron Clark
 Reaction:

Teaching is the single most important profession in the world. Teachers pass on knowledge and values to children, prepare them for further education and for working life and are main contributors to good education. This most important profession however does not get the recognition it deserves. In the developed world, young people don’t want to become a school teacher anymoreAs a teacher you don’t only dealing with your student, personnel in the school but also in the parents of your school. We all knew that our student has different attitudes or differences. Some students are hard to understand and some students do not respect teachers. In the case in the article, parent yelling to teacher about their children. Some parent they don’t really know about their children.  The some attitude or the behavior shows by the children in school is different the things they possess in their home. So that, when something happened to their children because it commit some dishonesty they think that is all thing is not true. Because some parents did not trust the teachers. The parents think that all the things happened to their child is because of their teacher. At in the article says that if the teacher gave a lowest grade it means that the teacher challenge her teacher to study harder and when teacher gave a higher grade it means that the teacher not much concern to the students. Teacher is very hard profession; it’s really a heroic profession it is like a martyr. The best thing to do is that the connection of parents and teachers will be more often, because it gives more understanding between the parents and teacher to know the students.

Logging in the Compostela Valley

5,000 people barricade Compostela Valley highway

Wednesday, January 16, 2013
ABOUT 5,000 residents from different areas affected by Typhoon “Pablo” barricaded the intersection of Montevista and Monkayo towns in Compostela Valley to stop mining and illegal logging.
The group also demanded an end to substantial release of food aid, instead of the piece-meal distribution of the government during calamities.
The human barricade forced traffic to stop. The group also asks the government to respond immediately to their needs like food and speedy rehabilitation efforts.
Social Welfare Secretary Dinky Soliman was among those who barricaded from a scheduled trip to New Bataan.
Soliman, who was with Compostela Valley Governor Arturo Uy, left the group and released 1,500 food packs with 10 kilograms (kg) of rice, few cans of sardines, and noodles.
The group of protesters came from the Barug Katawhan chapters, Bayan Southern Mindanao, and Balsa Mindanao, said Mae Fe Templa, representative of the Balsa team.
In its earlier report, Bayan Southern Mindanao said: "Forty-two days after Typhoon Pablo hit, millions affected by Typhoon Pablo are hungry, homeless and without any means of livelihood. Amidst the government's failure to deliver quick and sustained humanitarian response, the people's rage could no longer be contained."
Members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) kept a tight watch on the protesters Tuesday, although no untoward incident happened as government officials tried to talk it out with the residents.
The barricaders, who came from Montevista, Monkayo, New Bataan, Pantukan, Maco, Mabini, New Corella, Mawab, Banaybanay, Mati, and Lupon in the provinces of Davao del Norte, Compostela Valley, and Davao Oriental, blame the massive mining and logging operations in Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental which worsened the situation.
Compostela Valley is the center of gold mining, while Davao Oriental's mountains are being mined for gold and chromite, among many other minerals.

Reaction and insight in the article

In the article that I read shows the effect of the typhoon Pablo in the Compestela Valley.  The typhoon Pablo is a super typhoon. Compostela Valley are very much affected of this typhoon. The place were really damage or in the area of state calamities during and after the typhoon. Almost 5000 people affected by this typhoon.  All the government officials are uniting to help all the victim of this typhoon. They do their responsibility to their people, they help each other to secure the condition of their people.

In any kind of calamities, some of our government officials do not forget their responsibility in their position some of them are giving their best to help the people to recover and faced their conditions. But not all the officials doing that, some are hiding in the times that they are need by their fellowman. I admired those who are always there or ready in the times that they need by their people.

In the case of the calamities and condition happened in Compostela all are thinking about the cause why those things happened.  The article says that “Compostela Valley is the center of gold mining, while Davao Oriental's mountains are being mined for gold and chromite, among many other minerals” because of the it will be the cause of the effect of the typhoon. I think not only mining is the reason of this the logging in Compostela it also a reason why Compostela  now suffering in the Typhoon Pablo.
We are living in a barrowed world, why we have to abuse it if it is not owned by us. Everything that happening on us, it is also because on what we did. The entire things are not permanently in our world. Always remember that the thing that we did, though it is a little and if this is wrong. It may cause a big impact, not only in yourself but to others. It may cause of losing a dream or a life. We have to respect the things that God’s gave us. He gives all that for us to have a better living. So that we have to give importance in all the blessings that she gave to us. By simply loving and caring in all His creation.  :)

Say It Again
By: Marie Digby

The thing about love is I never saw it comin'

You kinda crept up and took me by surprise
And now there's a voice inside my heart that's got me wonderin'
Is this true? I wanna hear it one more time

Move in a little closer
(Just a little closer)
Take it to a whisper
(Woah)
Get just a little louder
(Yeah)

Say it again for me
? Cause I love the way it feels when you are
Tellin' me that I'm
The only one who blows your mind

Say it again for me
It's like the whole world stops to listen
When you tell me you're in love
Say it again

The thing about you
(About you)
Is you know just how to get me
You talk about us like there's no end in sight

The thing about me is that I really wanna let you
(Really wanna let you)
Open that door
(Open that door)
And walk into my life

Move in a little closer
(Just a little closer)
Take it to a whisper
(Woah)
Just a little louder
[ From: http://www.elyrics.net ]
(Yeah)

Say it again for me
? Cause I love the way it feels when you are
Tellin' me that I'm
The only one who blows your mind

Say it again for me
It's like the whole world stops to listen
When you tell me you're in love

And it feels like
It's the first time
That anybody's ever brought
The sun without the rain

And never
In my whole life
Have I heard words as beautiful
As when you say my name

Say it again for me
? Cause I love the way it feels
When you are tellin' me that I'm
The only one who blows your mind

Say It again for me
It's like the whole world stops to listen
When you tell me you're in love

Say it again
Say it again
Say it again

When you tell me you're in love
Say it again

Characteristics of a Global Classroom
How can you make your classroom a global community?
Global perspective is integrated throughout the school curriculum not just in social studies.
I will think of the best thing to do to enhance the global perspective. I will integrate in the entire subject in the curriculum the global perspective.
International focus courses are developed in areas such as anthropology, regional history, geography, global or world studies, foreign language study, world religions, ethnic group studies, international business, music, and art.
I will ask my students to collect or make an research about in this topic. To enhance their social and cultural ability.
Internationalizing instructional methods and materials emphasize intercultural interaction and culturally appropriate methods of instruction and assessment. Partnership programs with other schools and countries can also be developed.
I will provide more challenging activities for my students for them to enhance their ability. Like a survey, investigation or research. And give my student to deal with other and experience different cultures and beliefs.
Encouraging international travel as an important part of one’s education
Using instructional materials I will used pictures, videos and other materials that gives my student idea in such topic or discussions. I will relate the things that we discuss in the real situation or in the present time.
